The Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina needed a modern responsive site that they could update themselves. I designed the BCHNC web site to extend the current brand and provide a central communication platform for their many programs and services. Analytics data indicated that organic search results were lower than expected due to poor SEO. I worked with them to re-write site copy to be more concise and helped them to integrate keywords throughout their copy to Improve SEO. I re-organized the IA and created a sitemap for approval. Once approved, I created the UI design. They wanted a casual and approachable look and felt that the previous site was too “serious” looking. The design direction that I presented incorporated textures, muted colors, and casual photography as a solution. Since the staff was tech-savvy, I was able to supply a set of Photoshop templates so that they could generate their own replacement images with the necessary textures and edges. I wrote the HTML, CSS, and JQuery as a set of templates that I handed off to a developer for integration into the CMS.
